Programm, Programme, 27-10-1893, Hamburg “Erstes populäres Concert im philharmonischen Styl.” Mahler’s Titan symphony (First; from manuscript), three songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (“Der Schildwache Nachtlied”, “Trost im Ungluck”, “Rheinlegendchen”), and the three Humoresken (“Das himmliche Leben,” “Verlorene Muh,” “Wer hat dieses Liedlein gedacht”) conducted by Mahler. Program also included Beethoven’s Egmont overture, Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave overture, an aria from Marschner’s Hans Heiling, and an aria from Adam’s Die Nürnberger Puppe. Solists Clementine Schuch-Prosska and Paul Bulss. Contains Mahler’s programme for the symphony (which included “Blumine.”)
